Search Clinic Drop-In Sessions
Library Drop-in Search Clinics – No Need to Book Just Turn Up!
The Library and Knowledge Service has now introduced a new drop-in search clinic every Monday and Wednesday between 10am-4pm.
A member of library staff will be able to offer you assistance with Internet or database searches either for specific queries, or just to provide you with some useful hints and tips on searching. No need to book an appointment just turn up!

Users with NHS Athens accounts are able to access the following resources until 31st October 2009 as part of trials set-up by the London Deanery.
Proquest E-journals (Hospital Collection)
The Proquest Hospital Collection contain over 2000 e-journals in nursing, allied health, psychology and health management.
RefWorks
RefWorks is a web based citation management tool. Users can store and import references which RefWorks can convert into a chosen reference style eg. Harvard
Both these resources can be accessed from the New Resources section of the HILO (Health Information for London Online) http://www.hilo.nhs.uk website. Users that are not registered for NHS Athens can also self register online from this website.

BMJ Learning
BMJ Learning is the leading continuing professional development (CPD) e-learning resource for clinical and non-clinical professionals. BMJ Learning contains around 450 modules which cover a wide range of specialities that are written by subject experts and peer reviewed. Users of BMJ Learning can manage their own learning by adding modules that match their learning needs to their own CPD plan. Modules can be completed at the users own pace and reports generated as evidence of the learning that has been undertaken.

Anatomy TV is the world’s most detailed interactive 3D model of human anatomy. Anatomical models can be rotated layers of anatomy removed and also viewed as an MRI image. There is an extensive anatomical MCQ question bank to test your knowledge!
Please note that access is restricted to 1-2 concurrent users.

A new web portal for quality clinical and non-clinical evidence and best practice was officially launched on 30th April.
NHS Evidence is to be developed and maintained by NICE and will replace the National Library for Health (NLH) website. Much of the NLH’s content and functionality e.g. the specialist libraries and the Search 2.0 healthcare databases will be transferred over to NHS Evidence. It will be possible to search NHS Evidence using its inbuilt the FAST search engine while the Specialist Search function will allow users to search the healthcare databases using their NHS Athens logon.
NHS Evidence will continue to develop over the forthcoming year. For regular updates you can register to receive the ‘Eyes on Evidence’ newsletter.
